Mediation/Education :

This involves the development of a simple scale (20 questions) called ‘PolyQoL’. This scale has been validated and is used to assess the physical and social health quality of life of people with multiple disabilities, by those around them (carers, family), producing a score ranging from 0 (impaired state) to 100 (optimal state). A group of professionals working with children with multiple disabilities, in collaboration with an experienced psychologist, and 10 families (parents) of children with multiple disabilities helped develop this tool. The validation involved 818 assessments, carried out by 353 family carers and 185 institutional carers, in different care structures: home, medico-social structure, follow-up care and rehabilitation structure.

This scale is very useful for monitoring individuals, conducting research and evaluating care policies.
