Summary

Management of orthopedic disorders in people with multiple disabilities has evolved rapidly in recent years. Our knowledge of multiple disabilities is growing, and our understanding of how orthopedic disorders interact with neurological disorders is leading to new therapeutic proposals. Reference texts on support and care for people with multiple disabilities have been published. The context in which care is organized is also evolving, prompting our institutions to change the way they operate. The position of families is also changing: access to a wealth of information on care and methods is having a wide range of effects, from dispersion to the development of expertise. These current issues are all challenges to be taken up as we continue our work to improve the quality of life and future of children with multiple disabilities and their families.
